I
am a sophomore at The University of Texas in Austin. I enjoy painting,
writing poetry, backpacking and playing the bass.
One
of my favorite books I've read for school is The Republic by
Plato.
One
of my favorite books I've read outside of school is Light in August by
William Faulkner.
Below
is a piece of my writing; hope you enjoy it.

A
Starting Change
It
was a path to start your stride,
And
it would follow after.
It
was a roughly traveled road,
Filled
with puddles of laughter.
Mostly
weaved of all our soft thoughts,
And
paved with preemptive hopes.
Lined
with trees, born with character.
Limbs
hang; strangled ropes.
Part
stones, pebbles, and easy sand.
Stumble,
raw bloody knees.
Slow
trees lock their knuckles, no sky left whole.
Sun
shines like so many seas.
When
the path has faded into life;
You’ve
weathered the saints and the sin,
You
will have tears, and smile worn cheeks.
Looking
back it starts again.
Funerals
and Kisses
The
withdrawn flowers hide themselves,
Bent
in front of the sharp lined stage.
A
small voice, weeping normal words,
Lightly
steals the breath off everyone’s lips.
For
a moment they are real.
Raw
tears only see the forest.
Ending,
they retrieve their crisp exterior.
Shaking
hands, with smiles they resume.
A
partly creased finger cuts in the sand
Raw
songs of his heart that will never be read.
For
the tickling waves, that smoothly cover the shore,
Draw
down the soft sand to clean his deep paper of scars.
These
moments offer prism glances
Into
the unseen never years,
Where
we will view each other and ourselves
Raw
and real; nothing to mask our soul.
